Social media marketing is the process of getting the attention of the internet users in gaining traffic or leads by using the social media sites. The social media marketing programs concentrate on creating content which can get or capture the attention of the readers who will then share what he has read or learned through the social media networking sites. The electronic word of mouth (EWoM) is used here by the users to share or disseminate any information he has read through the different websites on the internet, social networks, instant messages or news feeds. This information could either be something about an event, product, service, and brand or about a company or institution. By using the electronic word of mouth (eWoM) or electronic word of mouth, the message or information is spread or disseminated from one user to the other. This process becomes effective because the information or message comes from a third party instead of coming directly from the company where the information or message originated. This form of marketing is considered as earned media instead of a paid media.

The social media networking sites allow the people or their members to interact with one another. Some of these social media networking sites include the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and You Tube. These sites are open to those people who want to be a part of their site. They welcome everybody and encourage them to register for membership. Each site has its own members and followers.

More so, each site has its own functions which can cater to the needs of their members. For instance, Facebook is the site where people can share or express anything they want to share like their thoughts and pictures. Some people use the Facebook to disseminate information and current news. It is also used to get in touch with relatives and friends who are inactive.

The different social media networking sites can be used to make any online activity or online business transaction successful. More so, these social sites can also be an effective medium of communication.

As they interact with one another, they were able to build a relationship that can help them and the social media site. The social sites created a platform where the consumers and companies can interact. This interaction can yield positive results because the company will be able to answer anything that the consumers would like to know, they can also give personalized services to their customers/consumers. For instance, if the consumer gets satisfied with what they get from the company, they will then disseminate the wonderful experience they got from the company.
